The Great British Summer
15/Jul/2007
The Great British weather this summer is now affecting both consumer purchasing habits along with poor growing conditions
Whilst April was full of sunshine and contributed to exceptional quality soft fruit and strong berry demand, the recent months of rain has started to impact on sales and growing conditions. The seemingly endless rain that we have been experiencing over May, June and now July (with June being the wettest on record) has affected crop yields and consumer demand. It is forecasted that the temperatures will rise over the coming weeks - but it would appear that the rain will not stop. Holiday bookings for those looking for warmer and drier climes are up for the first time in a couple of years. AMS Marketing has put into place, with its key customer base, some exciting new promotional opportunties in the coming months to ensure that we continue to drive sales in the ever popular category of soft fruit. Whilst there is nothing that can be done about the Great British summer time wet weather, we can continue to ensure our consumers are attracted to the berry fixture, over the important next few months that remain of the UK berry season.
